TESOL reflection question

TESOL reflection question

Reflect on how teachers in your learning experiences got to know you as a student and as a person.

  1. Reflect on how teachers in your learning experiences got to know you as a student and as a person. What are some specific strategies that they used? Were these strategies effective, why, or why not? Would you consider using any of these strategies in your own teaching? Why or why not?
How does the practice of classroom observation and reflection allow teachers to become more equitable practitioners?
  2. What strategies to get to know your students have you learned about in the TESOL program, know about through observations, or have practiced to some capacity that you would like to implement in your teaching? What about the discussed strategies effectively allows a teacher to get to know the students and begin generating positive rapport in the classroom?
  3. Research the program online. Include such information as hours of instruction, class size (teacher:student ratio), additional services received (i.e. tutoring, counseling), specific language/learning support, etc. Consider referencing week 3 and 4 readings and video viewings, especially Garcia and Kleifgen’s classification of the programs for emergent bilinguals (Garcia and Kliefgen, 2018, Chapter 3 “Programs and Policies for educating emergent bilinguals), to support your descriptions.
