Movie Reflection Paper

Movie Reflection Paper

Pick ONE (1) film from the list and write about it. What is the film saying about identity? What is the person trying to find out about themselves OR what do they end up discovering about themselves? You may also consider what the person is missing or has lost in understanding their identity? Most importantly, what does the audience learn about themselves or about “the self” from the film? And is this lesson relevant or important? Why or why not?

Movie Choices (Pick only one):

Preparing for the Paper:

Take detailed notes. You may also need to watch the movie or specific scenes multiple times. Try to identify the themes, lessons, and overall messages made by the film. Avoid topical observations like “a person should be true to themselves” or “everyone feels lost sometimes.” Dig into deeper themes and messages regarding the self. What fundamental issues of being human does the film grapple with and what answers does it attempt to provide? Is this an issue that many people can connect with? How so? Can this film have a positive or negative effect on the audience in regards to this issue? Explain your reasoning. Use the Writing Center or Brainfuse to help with formalizing and organizing your ideas and checking citations. If you use the Writing Center, ask for a Tutor Signature Sheet. If you use Brainfuse, upload the tutor feedback to D2L with your final draft of the essay. I will add 10 points to your essay score if you utilize either of these resources.

Essay Requirements:

Explain your answer by discussing passages/scenes from the film and textbook. This response should be 3-4 pages long (800-1200 words total). If necessary, you will have a chance to revise this essay for a higher grade (including your brainstorming and drafting process material could help me give you better feedback, too).Submit this to the D2L Assignments box marked Essay #4 before the due date 11/30.
