The purpose of this project is to analyze a case study and make recommendations based on the information provided in Module 2. You will be asked to evaluate the revenue management decisions of the manager of the Clonlara Hotel and make recommendations based on the information provided in the case study. The analysis skills you develop by assessing this case study will help you to evaluate your own decisions in the industry as well as the decisions of revenue managers. Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to pricing recommendations, so while your previous experience may guide you in your decision-making, the answers must be relevant to the information provided in the case study.
Submissions are expected to resemble those presented to an upper-level manager in a hospitality operation and will give students an opportunity to apply written and verbal communication skills. 1-2 sentence answers are not sufficient.
The assignment this week is to read and analyze the Clonlara Case Study. After reading the case study for The Clonlara Hotel, please answer the following questions. Each of these questions should be answered with thoughtful, well-reasoned arguments. When you are asked for your opinion, the expectation is that you will be using the resources provided to you in this course to make your argument. Any outside resources must be cited by using in-text citations and proper APA references at the end. This assignment is worth 20 points.
An opaque website, like Hotwire, masks the name of the hotel until the booking is complete. This is done to protect the rate integrity of the hotel property. The advantage for the hotel is that they are able to fill rooms quickly without upsetting guests who have booked on their website. The disadvantage is that the property is competing with other hotels solely based on room rates which risks making the hotel a commodity. Would you recommend that Crawley use this type of website for the Clonlara? Why or why not?
Based on the booking data how many times did the number of rooms requested at the hotel exceed the 600 rooms the hotel was able to sell? How many times did the discounter sell at least 90% of the 400 room allocated to them?
Would you recommend making changes to the room rates on the Internet Discounter on Saturday morning? If so, what price would charge? What information would you use to decide if you were going to increase or decrease the internet room rate (i.e. the number of requests to the hotel, the number of rooms sold on the discount site)?
Based on the readings, what other techniques could she have employed to increase her occupancy?

This assignment is required to be done in Word and a plagiarism check must be done upon submission. Even though you are not submitting a hard copy due to this being an online class, you need to make sure the file you submit is presentable to print. When you send electronic files, some recipients may want to print them, so it is your responsibility to make sure these print in a sufficient way to show your quality of work.
The write-up must be double spaced, 12-point font, 1” margins, and portrait style. You must label each question either with the question number or a descriptive header. Other than that, there is no set format. Use your imagination, creativity, and knowledge of what you believe would be beneficial to management. There is no word or page limit, but you need to make sure you address all the questions but be careful adding additional information that is not needed. When you add too much additional information, you can not only distract the reader but add incorrect information since you are trying to make conclusions that are not valid based on the detail you have.
