Every day, we encounter situations in our homes, workplaces, and communities which could be improved by applying concepts from operations management.
1. Identify a specific problem that you have encountered in operations.
2. Describe the circumstances and consequences of the problem.
3. Analyze the problem by collecting data and modeling the system.
5. Evaluate the benefits of improved performance.
NOTE: Examples would be serving food at a large party, developing a new product to take advantage of excess production capacity, reducing wait times at a doctor’s office, or reducing excess inventory. You can write about a specific business or other location in your community.
