At this point in your educational journey, it is important to preview the career paths available to Industrial and Organizational Psychology professionals. Use the following information to draft a mock job description and resume of a highly qualified candidate.

Visit SIOP.org’s Career Center here: Jobs and Careers and navigate to the Career Paths page.
Pick one of the four career paths: Consulting, Government, Academia, or Industry.
For each of these paths, SIOP has provided a list of job titles. For each job title, you will find a list of Top Competencies and Top Experiences. Use this list to familiarize yourself with these careers. Choose one of the following jobs: Data Scientist, Associate Professor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Talent Manager, or Assessment Specialist. Using job descriptions, job advertisements, SIOP’s resources, and/or O*Net, introduce your job on the first page with a brief description, then craft a mock job description. You will need to put these competencies and experiences in your own words; you will not receive credit for cutting and pasting this information.

The job description should include:

Job Title
Career Path Family (Consulting, Government, Academia, or Industry)
Fictional Organizations are likely to hire this job title.
Brief description of the role, including how this role contributes to both organizational strategy and outcomes.
List of qualifications (5-7).
List of major job duties (5-7).

Create a resume of a fictional job candidate that is highly qualified for the position. This resume should include the following:

Name and fictional address, phone number.
Resume objective or summary of qualifications.
Educational qualifications.
Three relevant work experiences, including the job title and brief summary of the role/duties.
You may use one of the resume templates from Microsoft Word. Make sure that your resume and job description are properly formatted and professionally presented. Your Assignment should be 2-3 pages total and include both a fictional job description and fictional resume (not including the Title and Reference pages) and should include the following elements:

Title Page

Provide your name, title of the assignment, course and unit number, and date
Job Description (1-2 pages)

Reference Page

Sources in the appropriate APA citation format.
Use at least two credible sources (including the SIOP webpage); at least one reference must be used to supplement the information from SIOP.
