Research is greatly enhanced by asking some of your friends, peers, co-workers, family,
fellow church members, etc. what they think about your topic. Try not to ask leading
questions like, “How do we stop unions from forming?” or “Why should everyone be a
member of a union?”, but ask more open questions that deal with your topic and can bring
you interesting perspectives. Be open to learning that others may not have the same opinions
you have and gain their perspective on the issue. You may find out something you had never
considered before. I can guarantee you that every time I teach this course, I get a different
perspective and opinion that I had not heard before. It helps me learn and grow to listen to
how others view this Labor Relations topic. I would love for you to experience this by
interviewing several people or conducting your own short survey of a dozen or so people.

If your union wanted to strike, would you join a picket line? Why or why not?
If you were in management and could conduct a lockout on your workers who were
