Assignment 9: Introductions

For this assignment, submit a Word document that explains how to write an introduction to a report. Use the three articles as a guide. First, examine each article’s introduction and then try to figure out what each one is doing? What is the first sentence like? Is there a problem the article is trying to solve? If so, where is it described? Go into detail using the articles.

Assignment 10: References

For this assignment, submit a Word document that explains to a freshman engineering student how engineers use references (explain in detail how engineers use citations):

· Find examples of in-text or in-paragraph citations in each article.

· What is being referenced? Is it a quote, paraphrase, or summary (try Googling these terms if you aren’t familiar with them)?

· Why does the author choose those specific things to cite?

· Does the author ever quote anything? Why or why not?
