Choose a play

Choose a play

Choose a play. Then, choose an important scene from that play. On the first slide, write a brief synopsis of the play and a brief synopsis of the scene you have chosen.

Summary: Find a play (online, in the library, or in your own books) and choose a scene from the play. Compose a PowerPoint presentation that identifies the central characters, central conflicts, and chooses costumes, scenery, and props that symbolize the characters and conflicts. This presentation should be 5-6 slides long.

Specifics:

Part 1. Presentation.

Choose a play. Then, choose an important scene from that play.
On the first slide, write a brief synopsis of the play and a brief synopsis of the scene you have chosen.
On the second slide, write a short description of the main characters. Write another short description of the main conflicts. Each short description should be about half a page.
On the next 3-4 slides, compile photographs (either ones you have found in books, on the internet, or ones you have taken yourselves). These should be pictures of the following things:
Props the characters will use
Costumes the characters will wear
Settings/places where you envision the scene taking place.
On each of these 3-4 slides, alongside your photographs, include a brief explanation of how each prop, costume, and setting symbolizes or expresses something important about the characters, the main conflicts, or the themes of the play. (You may include extra slides if you run out of space—its ok to go over a little bit).
When you have completed both parts, put the entire document together into a .ppt or .pdf and upload it via canvas.

Please note: Don’t be literal! The play may be set in medieval times or the Victorian era, but it doesn’t mean you have to set it there. You are free to transpose it into any setting you want.

Technical Specifications:

Format: This format is written for PowerPoint but you can use a regular document (docx, doc)

Length: At least 5-6 slides
